My Ranking of All MCU Movies (as of Fantastic Four: First Steps)
All my unprepared opinions, watching each movie at least once with a short summary.
37. Ant-Man and Wasp: Quantumania
A movie that tries to do so many things and create so much chaos that it jumbles the highlights of the movie.
36. Thor: The Dark World
Love the cinematography and the characters, but overall just a forgettable plot.
35. Iron Man 2
The highlight of the movie is Black Widow, but the plot and villain are bland.
34. Captain America: Brand New World
A perfectly good presidential action movie that ties in the celestial from Eternals, but it doesn’t stick out with me.
33. Thor
The celestial grandeur is excellent, but Thor stands out more in other movies.
32. Iron Man 3
They tried many things; some worked, some failed.
31. Thor: Love and Thunder
A goofy and reckless movie with bright cinematography, but it ruins the drama and intensity of a superhero movie.
30. The Incredible Hulk
Highly underrated movie, but I couldn’t appreciate it enough without watching the series.
29. Ant-Man and the Wasp
A hilarious comedic ride that is watchable.
28. The Marvels
A ride that is fun, but the whole movie feels incohesive.
27. Captain America: The First Avenger
A great movie that I respect, but doesn’t click with me enough.
26. Ant-Man
Great origin story with a compelling villain in Yellowjacket.
25. Black Panther
The worldbuilding and character development were impressive, but some scenes, like the duels, turned me away from the film.
24. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
Some jokes and scenes give me the ick.
23. Doctor Strange
Mindboggling and respectable film that exceeds what the MCU has done before.
22. Captain Marvel
A nice time jump to the 90s with nice lead characters.
21. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings
Great fresh action and type of story, with every Asian actor in Hollywood starring.
20. Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness
Horror + Magical powers + Multiverse chaos + cameos = Good movie
19. Captain America: Civil War
Love the fight scene in the airport and the future implications of this event.
18. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever
Respects Boseman well and includes another compelling world in the form of the Atlanteans.
17. Thor: Ragnarok
Style, style, style, color!
16. Spider-Man: No Way Home
So many fun cameos that might be too much, but it is fun.
15. Avengers: Age of Ultron
Highly underrated movie that introduces Wanda and Pietro and continues the rapport of the Avengers. It also has big stakes and explores other topics and locations.
14. Iron Man
Classic start to a franchise that ages like fine wine.
13. Captain America: The Winter Soldier
A spy thriller that is not boring.
12. Deadpool and Wolverine
It’s everything.
11. Black Widow
The first movie after the pandemic hits differently due to the characters (YELENA!) and their banter.
10. The Avengers
Great score and is the OG crossover movie.
9. Eternals
Overly hated - the large spectacle works and the historical references keep me intrigued.
8. Fantastic Four: First Steps
First came out of the theater unimpressed, but after thinking about it, the futuristic 60s with the simplicity of everything builds a fantastic movie.
7. Thunderbolts*
Makes you love the hated, and that is saying something.
6. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3
The only time I have watched a Marvel movie and cried.
5. Spider-Man: Homecoming
Just so high school with a fresh Spider-Man story.
4. Avengers: Infinity War
Epic and impactful (but requires Endgame to be matched with it).
3. Guardians of the Galaxy
The team shines in the quirky story and setting.
2. Avengers: Endgame
So close to number 1 because of the final battle and its connection to 11 years of stories.
1. Spider-Man: Far From Home
A nostalgic movie that travels through Europe and has great humor. Peter, Ned, and MJ, along with Happy, create a very light and deep movie.
